this goes out to one of my best friends. great traditional new years eve parties at his place, good memories of new years eve parties with him at other places. and every year right after midnight we two were sitting together and listening to this special song while the others were out watching the fireworks. will listen to it tonight, unfortunately without you.

I guess most of you have already checked out the music tipp on hyperborea about the genius project "Last Days" (link: Click here). "The Safety Of The North" by Last Days is a great album and was playing over and over again here in the last days. By surfing the net to find out more about Last Days I stumbled across a really really nice band called "Familiar Trees". This tipp is about their song "Between", but there is alot more for you to discover out there, if you're intrested. Wonderful piece of music.

We all know, Peter Steele died yesterday. I guess many music blogs will put up Type O Negative songs in the next days, so there is no reason for me to put one up aswell. I remember him for good childhood days and thank him that he helped me once to express my feelings on my travel-blog.

There is a vulcano active in Iceland, and the ash spreads over the airspace of the UK and Scandinavia, so that all norwegian Airports are closed for the unforeseeable future and the kids in my kindergarden are not allowed to play outside. Haha, amazing. Therefore, a special with songs relating to the topic in one or another way.

LA CASA FANTOM - giving drum'n'bass a bad name since 2000
Just heard, that La casa fantom are playing a concert in Moss this friday, where my flatmate supports with his band. Nice!
La casa fantom are an awesome Norwegian band, only drums and bass-guitar and nice effects. A mixture of dark sounds, epicness and rage - wonderful, beautiful.
Georg just send me a link to a song of Dover. Through the years I always get confronted with this band from time to time. First it was in 2004 when I saw them live at the Aerodromefestival - a really really nice gig. Then the memories of Piet who likes them really much. The memories of listening two times to the "The flame" album of Dover with a person you really like, before you leave her, and so on..
A really good rock'n'roll band, but today, for the blog, one of their slow songs:
Often people smile at me and don't really believe it when I tell them that I like Juli. The lyrics of this song are quite good, and I really hope that I will never put myself into the situation in the song.

Alot of memories (Aerodrome 2004, Obtarrenz, Soulseller) but only some, that REALLY REALLY matter when I listen to this song.
This one goes out to Dr. acht - the only other person I know who enjoys drinking alone as much as I do. Because other people just suck. You're better off alone. :)
I never want to act my age and Hyperborea have both some REALLY awesome tipps on today, so I also have to come up with something epic, although many of you know it already :)
This is maybe the best active band in Germany at the moment and one of the bands I've seen live most often.
I often wonder why I don't know more musicians from Italy or Spain who play music that I like. Apart from a couple of Punk Rock and Doom Bands I almost listen to nothing coming from Italy. Okay, I have to add here that some Italian acts do pretty good electronic music :)

This one goes out to myself. 10 to 15 people in the PMK, I'm the only one dancing and enjoying it, getting totally wasted and school on the next day. What a wonderful day, what a wonderful night. Good memories - sharing a concert with your best friend - yourself.

Clearly remember the first time I saw Soap&Skin live in concert. This shy but strong girl. 18 years of age. We left the concert before the encore, Abradi and me were walking side by side straight away from the location, not able to speak a word for minutes. I can't really describe the feeling i had during these minutes with words, but Abradi knows exactly how it feels like. Was nice to share this experience with you.
She definitely found what she is here for. Does everybody have something to be here for, some hidden talents, a destiny? If yes, do you have to find it yourself, or will „it“ find you? And GODdAMn - what is mine?
This song is the Outro of the movie "The Fountain". This film was recommended to me by Brian from Denmark, with whom I had the pleasure to see Mogwai in Denmark and who made me feel really welcome when I was in Reykjavik 2 years ago. Thanks for all that.
Also the other movie soundtracks by Clint Mansell (he did the music for all Aronofsky movies) should be heard - i guess you will all know the "Lux Aeterna", used in the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack, but there is a lot more great music from him to discover.
No thoughts today either, just feel kinda empty at the moment.
Because this blog has just started, I had like the first 7 or 8 songs already on my mind, but this now is a totally unexpected tipp. I was just having the last beer with Rein, a couchsurfer from Belgium. 5 minutes ago we said goodbye to eachother - who knows when we will meet the next time. Couchsurfing brings good experience along, but also alot of farewell-situations which made me think of saying good bye in general - that's why this song came up to my mind:

Thats probably why we can hear the message, that you shouldn't forget your past, that you shouldn't forget where you come from, in so many other songs of diffrent artists. Why is it important, not to forget where you come from, not to forget your roots? Is it, actually?
